How to Research a Historic Home

Join us on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30pm as Wayne Eisenhart shares his insights, tips, and techniques for researching historic homes and uncovering the stories behind them.

Before moving to Benicia in 2023, Wayne and his wife, Vicky, lived in Merced, California. While there, Wayne worked with the Merced County Historical Society to compile and publish two books setting forth the histories of two of Merced’s oldest neighborhoods, often block-by-block and lot-by-lot. Through what he calls the “genealogy of houses,” Wayne explores historic architectural styles alongside the families who lived in them, striving to assemble a composite image of entire neighborhoods. Now a Benicia resident, Wayne has begun applying these same research techniques to Benicia’s historic blocks.
