The Vallejo Home - July Members Only Field Trip

The Society has arranged for a private, docent led tour of the Vallejo Home, available exclusively for our members. Space is limited, RSVP is required.

Did you know the Walsh House in Benicia was one of three identical Carpenter Gothic houses that were fabricated in the East, dismantled, and shipped around the horn? The second such house was home to none other than General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. Built in Sonoma in 1852, the General and his wife, Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo, called the estate Lachryma Montis (mountain tear) and lived there for 40 years until their deaths. Every room is adorned with a white marble fireplace and  many furnishings imported from Europe, including crystal chandeliers, lace curtains, and a grand piano.

The Society's private docent led tour of the Vallejo Home will begin at 11am. Please arrive at 10:45am to allow time for parking and paying the entry fee. There is a large parking lot behind the Vallejo Home.

A State Park entry fee of $3.00 per person will be collected at the door. This fee also gives you the ability to independently visit the park's other historic buildings that day.

There are many wonderful restaurants located in Sonoma Plaza. We encourage you to plan to eat lunch after the tour and invite your fellow members.
